Two years ago my family and I took a trip to Maui. Everyone had a good time, and those people consisted of me, my husband, my parents, my grandma, my three uncles, my two sisters, and my two brothers. We wanted to choose a place that will be family friendly with a lot of sceneries, and activities to do. One of my favorite is the ABC store. That’s where I bought all my souvenirs, Hawaiian dresses, and snacks. A nearby restaurant that we all enjoyed was Aloha Mixed Plates. It looks like a little turquoise shack, but as we walked up to it, we can smell the grilled teriyaki chicken and stir-fry yakisoba noodles. With the ukulele playing in the background and eating outside with the view of surfers in the ocean, it gave me a sense of what the island feels like. Afterwards, we went to check out the Lahaina Heritage Museum that offers a fascinating show case of the Hawaiian history, and is free to the public. Lahaina Restoration states “Lahaina Heritage Museum offers visitors a comprehensive, interactive look at the rich and varied history of Lahaina from pre-contact Hawai‘i to the Monarchy era, including the missionary and whaling period, and from the Plantation era to early tourism” (Lahaina Restoration Foundation). We saw a lot of unremarkable artwork, such as 3d models of the island, a courthouse that used to be the palace for the king back in the 1800s, and a 60 ft. tall banyan tree planted outside of the museum that we took great family photos in front of.
