Instructions:
In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the diced butter and mix with a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.Gradually add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Divide the dough into two equal portions, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).In a separate bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and lemon juice. Toss to coat the apples evenly.Roll out one portion of the dough on a floured surface to fit a pie dish. Place the dough in the pie dish, trimming any excess dough from the edges.Pour the apple mixture into the pie dish, spreading it out evenly.Roll out the second portion of the dough and place it on top of the apple filling. Crimp the edges of the dough together to seal the pie.Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape while baking.Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool before serving.
