As a British person, I can confirm that we are indeed a bit conservative. One day, I was waiting in line at a bus stop when a sudden downpour started. As the minutes passed and the rain showed no sign of letting up, one older gentleman even remarked, "Well, this is rather typical British weather, isn't it?" with a wry smile on his face.
