Manshuk Mametova was a Soviet pilot and a Hero of the Soviet Union. She was born on October 15, 1922 in the village of Novotroitskoye in what is now Kazakhstan. Mametova joined the Soviet Air Force during World War II and became one of the first female fighter pilots in the Soviet Union.

Mametova flew over 80 combat missions during the war, and was credited with shooting down several enemy aircraft. She was known for her skill and bravery in combat, and was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for her contributions to the war effort.

After the war, Mametova continued to serve in the Soviet Air Force and became a test pilot. She was also involved in training new pilots and promoting the role of women in aviation. Mametova retired from the Air Force in 1967 and passed away on May 15, 1979.

Mametova is remembered as a trailblazer for women in aviation and a hero of the Soviet Union. Her bravery and skill in combat continue to inspire people around the world.
