Then he told them he had no money and they called a policeman. Nice and easy, with no trouble. So Soapy left his seat, and walked slowly along the street. Soon he came to a bright restaurant on Broadway. Ah! This was all right. He just had to get to a table in the restaurant and sit down. That was all, because, when he sat down, people could only see his coat and his shirt, which were not very old

So Soapy confidently walked into the restaurant and found a table near the window. He sat down and immediately ordered an expensive dinner, enjoying every bite as he savored the taste of the food. The waiter called the manager, who in turn called the police. Soapy smiled to himself, knowing that his plan was working perfectly. As the police arrived and escorted Soapy out of the restaurant, he couldn't shake off the feeling of fear and uncertainty. Maybe it was time to give up this life of petty crime and find a more honest way to make a living. Soapy couldn't help but wonder if this was a sign that it was time for him to turn over a new leaf.

And as he sat in the police car, on his way to the station, Soapy made a silent promise to himself that this would be the last time he would try to cheat his way through life. Maybe prison was exactly where he needed to be, to finally find a way to make things right.
