1) I think the boys at the school probably feel scared, confused, and maybe a little guilty for not standing up to the teacher sooner. They might also feel sorry for Smike and want to help him.
2) I think Smike will eventually get some kind of justice or help. Maybe the other boys will come to his rescue, or a kind adult will step in and intervene. I don't think things will stay the same for him - there will be some kind of resolution to his situation.
